(October 23, 2017) The Million Book Challenge was launched this year with the goal of providing a class library for every classroom in grades K-5 throughout the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. The Million Book Challenge is a way to provide literacy support and reinforce the importance of reading. All classroom libraries will be grade level appropriate with a mixture of gently used and new book collections.
Since the launch of this initiative, the school district has received support from many partners in the community, including the Armstrong College of Education. At a Board Meeting earlier this month, Armstrong along with other community partners were recognized for making $500 donations to the effort. These donations will purchase classroom book sets to help their partner reach their goal with this challenge.
