Sandra Elliott, the owner of Georgia Game Changers and a retired Army Physical Therapist, collaborated with the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students on November 15 to provide injury risk screens. Eighteen of the first year students in the DPT program conducted screenings at Georgia Game Changers in Richmond Hill. The DPT students performed Functional Movement Screens (FMS) and Y-Balance tests on approximately (50) participants. The FMS and Y-Balance are commonly used tools to assess risk of injury and have been studied extensively in a variety of settings. Participants included recreational runners, high school track runners, and the general public. These screenings provided the students with an opportunity to provide a community service and practice new skills.
