(March 10, 2017) – Armstrong State University will offer a new study abroad program in Havana, Cuba from July 9-29, 2017. Students will learn about the history, culture and contemporary issues affecting the Communist island nation post-Fidel Castro. The program is open to all Armstrong students, as well as University System of Georgia transient students, and offers a roster of semester credits.
(March 10, 2017) – Armstrong State University has been named to the list of the Top 100 Military Spouse Friendly Schools by Victory Media, the publisher of Military Spouse, G.I. Jobs and STEM Jobs, for a second year in a row. The annual list recognizes higher education institutions that actively recruit and support spouses of active duty service members while acknowledging and supporting military spouse students through the unique challenges of military life.

(February 1, 2017) – Armstrong State University recently ranked #20 on Online College Plan’s Top 20 Best Four-Year Colleges for Veterans list. Online College Plan compiled the list by utilizing data and research from multiple sources, such as National Center for Education Statistics, Military Times and Military.com.
(January 18, 2017) – Armstrong State University will host a free lecture by Comparative Literature Assistant Professor Hapsatou Wane and History Associate Professor Allison Scardino Belzer. In a lecture titled “Women in Conflict: Constructing Identity in the Twentieth Century During Dictatorship and War,” they will draw from distinct historical moments and settings to explore how women writers respond to political and military conflict.
(January 18, 2017) – On January 12, Armstrong State University hosted a ribbon cutting for the new Student Success Center, which is located on the main campus between the Pirate Athletic Center and Alumni Arena.

(January 10, 2016) – In a report published today, U.S.News & World Report ranks Armstrong State University #41 on the 2017 Best Online Criminal Justice Programs list. Armstrong is the only institution in Georgia to be included in the national rankings.
(January 6, 2017) – The University System of Georgia announced today that Chancellor Steve Wrigley will recommend the consolidation of Armstrong State University and Georgia Southern University for consideration at the Board of Regents’ January 11 meeting.
(January 5, 2017) – Armstrong State University was recently named a Gold-Level Military Friendly School Award recipient in the small public school category for 2017 by Victory Media, the publisher of G.I. Jobs, STEM Jobs and Military Spouse. This is the eighth year in a row Armstrong has been recognized as a Military Friendly Institution.
