Middle East Council

The Middle East Council is composed of faculty from throughout the University System of Georgia who are concerned about the history, peoples, religions, and cultures in North Africa, West Asia, and Central Asia. The purpose of the Council is to promote awareness of this region among faculty and students within the system and beyond. To accomplish this goal, the Council annually organizes the Middle East Student Symposium, is involved in Faculty Development and Study Abroad programming in the Middle East, and published a book entitled The Middle East: Its History and Culture (University Press of Maryland, 2012).
