IT Services: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get an Armstrong email account?

Students:  Your email accounts are automatically created upon acceptance to the University. If you have been accepted use this app to look up your ID. Your initial password is your birth date information MMDDYY.

Faculty and Staff: Complete the New Employee Computure Access and Technology Request form and submit it to the IT Services HelpDesk for processing.

Departmental: Complete the Departmental Email Request form and submit it to the IT Services HelpDesk for processing.

How do I access Port of Armstrong?

The Port of Armstrong is located at http://port.armstrong.edu

Students, use your Port/Wifi username and password for Port of Armstrong. Example: ga1935

Faculty/Staff, use your current Port/Wifi username and password for Port of Armstrong.  Example: armstrge (6 letters of last name plus 2 letters of your first name)

How do I reset my SHIP Pin & setup security questions?

Remember to change your PIN: Initially, each student at Armstrong is assigned a PIN (Personal Identification Number) set to his or her 6-digit date of birth (MMDDYY). This number is used in conjunction with your Student ID # to gain access to all online applications accessed through SHIP. We encourage all users to change their PIN for added security. DO NOT share your PIN information with anyone.

Change Pin

  1. Log into Port of Armstrong and select SHIP under Single Sign on in the Services area.
  2. Select Personal Information tab
  3. Select Change your PIN
  4. Follow the prompts and enter old PIN and new PIN twice.
  5. If you do not know the old PIN and you set up a security question please use this link to reset the PIN. 
    • ​Enter your User ID (907) and click the Forget PIN? button
    • Answer your security question and follow the prompts to reset. 
      Note: If you do not know the answer to your security question, you will need to present a photo ID to the Office of the Registrar to get your PIN reset. We cannot reset your PIN number over the phone.

Change Security Questions

  1. Log into Port of Armstrong and select SHIP under Single Sign on in the Services area.

How can I access the Wireless network?

Faculty, Staff and Students use their Port Username and Password to access the Armstrong network. View the instruction setup for Armstrong Wireless network.

Guests visiting Armstrong campus can create a temporary wi-fi guest account, up to 12 hours. View the instruction setup for Guest Wi-Fi self service.

How can I access eClassroom?

Armstrong eClassroom is accessed by signing into Armstrong's portal "Port of Armstrong". 

How can I add my email to my mobile phone?

Students can access their student email account on their personal mobile device. Setup instructions for Android, iOS - iPhone/iPad, and Windows phone are available.

Faculty and staff can access their employee email account on their personal mobile devices. Setup instructions for Android, iPhone, Blackberry and Windows phone are available. 

My laptop is not working. Who can help?

IT Services maintains Armstrong computer equipment that have Armstrong decals only. Your laptop with power cord should be dropped off at the Helpdesk counter at Armstrong Center, Suite 16 for service. Laptops cannot be serviced without the power cord. When dropping off the computer please be sure to sign the log book for tracking purposes.

How do I reserve a computer lab or classroom?

Requests to reserve computer labs or classrooms are handled by Reservation & Conference Services at Armstrong Center at 912.344.2894, armstrong.conferencing@armstrong.edu or via the R25 WebViewer. Faculty and Staff use your Port user name and password to make the reservation. View the instructions for making a reservation.

He also serves as a key advisor on the President’s Cabinet at Armstrong.
