How to Submit a Targeted Announcement

To submit an item to the entire student body, please use the Weekly Newsletter Form.

 

To submit an announcement targeted to a specific group of students, please follow these instructions:

  1. Login to Port of Armstrong
  2. Click the Port Apps tab in the horizontal navigation towards the top of the page.
  3. In the Weekly Newsletter portlet, select "Submit a targeted announcement to a specific group of students"
  4. Fill out this form, including all the following required fields:

    Title - The title of your event.
    Announcement Text - Don't forget to include important dates/times and any necessary contact information, including your department location, website, phone, and/or email address.
    Targeted Group(s) - The students you would like your announcement to reach.  Keep in mind that the targeted announcements are only for specific student groups.  Faculty/Staff/Employees won't see them.
    Post on / Expire on - The date your post appears and the date your post expires, respectively.  In addition to the date you may optionally include a time for your post to appear/expire.
    Your Armstrong email - In case IT Services needs to contact you for specific details about your announcement
    Your Armstrong phone number - In case IT Services needs to contact you for specific details about your announcement
     
  5. When you're done, click Submit.  The form contents will be emailed to the IT Services Helpdesk for moderation, and will then be posted to Student's Home tab in Port.

 

If you have been given the ability to post your own targeted announcements to Port, please follow these instructions:

  1. Login to Port of Armstrong
  2. On the Home tab, locate the Important Announcements portlet and click Schedule > Targeted Announcement
  3. Enter the following:

    Subject - The title of your event.
    Message - Don't forget to include important dates/times and any necessary contact information, including your department location, website, phone, and/or email address.
    Post on / Expire on - The date your post appears and the date your post expires, respectively.  In addition to the date you may optionally include a time for your post to appear/expire.
    Send to Group(s) - The students you would like your announcement to reach.  If you want to select more than one group, select the first group by clicking it, then the > icon.  Keep in mind that the targeted announcements are only for specific student groups.  Faculty/Staff/Employees won't see them.

    Targeted Groups:
    Finaid - Students that have applied for Financial Aid.
    Graduate - Eligible to enroll for courses without readmission or that have an active status.
    S_All_Freshman - 0-29 credit hours. Undergrads eligible to enroll w/o readmission, or active. Includes those not attempted or earned hours.
    S_Freshman - 0-29 credit hours. Undergrads eligible to enroll w/o readmission, or active. Includes only those who attempted or earned credit hours.
    S_New_Freshman - Undergrads eligible to enroll for courses w/o readmission, or have active status and have not attempted or earned credit hours.
    S_Sophmore - 29 – 59 credit hours. Undergrads eligible to enroll for courses w/o readmission, or have active status.
    S_Junior - 60 – 89 credit hours. Undergrads eligible to enroll for courses w/o readmission, or have active status.
    S_Senior - 90 credit hours or more. Undergrads eligible to enroll w/o readmission, or that have an active status.
    Student - Students eligible to enroll for courses without readmission or that have an active status.
    Undergraduate - Undergraduate students eligible to enroll for courses without readmission or that have an active status.
     
  4. When you're done, click Next >>
  5. You'll be given a preview of your announcement.  If everything looks good, click Schedule

Read More Armstrong Promotes Tim Moody to Chief Information Officer

(July 26, 2016) – Armstrong State University recently promoted Tim Moody, an information technology leader with 22 years of industry experience, to Chief Information Officer. In his new position, Moody is responsible for strategy and implementation of all technology at the main campus in Savannah and the Armstrong Liberty Center in Hinesville. He also serves as a key advisor on the President’s Cabinet at Armstrong.
