Human Resources: Holiday Schedule

TO:            All Faculty and Staff

FROM:       Robert L. Whitaker

DATE:       December 11, 2017

According to the Board of Regents policy, each institution within the University System of Georgia is allowed twelve (12) paid holidays each calendar year for employees at the institution.  After receiving input from throughout the campus and consulting the academic calendar, the President’s Cabinet along with the Staff Council at the Armstrong and Statesboro campus has adopted the following Calendar Year 2018 Official Holiday Schedule for Georgia Southern.

Note:  The University will close for the Christmas Holidays from Monday, December 24, 2018 through Tuesday, January 1, 2019.  This would allow the University to be closed for 11 consecutive days.  However, this will require everyone to use one day of annual leave, comp time or leave without pay for December 31, 2018.  Employees with available comp time or annual leave must use this time rather than elect leave without pay.
