Student Accessibility Resource Center: Services

Accommodations  

All students need to realize that the intake process, documentation review, and arrangements for accommodations take time. Please apply for services well in advance. It is best to call and schedule an intake appointment with a staff member as soon as you are accepted for admission to Armstrong.

Services offered, based on the individual student's needs, may include:

  • Priority registration
  • Notetaker services
  • Reader services
  • Scribe services
  • Assistive listening devices
  • Adaptive software
  • Books in alternate format
  • Consultation with faculty
  • Referrals to resources
  • Enlargement of print materials
  • Extended time on tests
  • Low distraction test room
  • Permission to record lectures
  • Priority seating


All students who have been approved for accommodations receive an Advocacy Letter each semester to show to their professors. The Advocacy Letter outlines the student's approved accommodations. It is the student's responsibility to pick up this letter each semester, discuss their needs and accommodations with their professors, and have their professors sign the Advocacy Letter. The student is responsible for returning the signed Advocacy Letter to the Student Accessibility Resource Center each semester.

Services are available to those students who choose to self-identify and provide appropriate documentation of their disability. Armstrong does not offer separate classes for students with disabilities. Through the assistance of the Student Accessibility Resource Center and other support services on campus, Armstrong strives to provide a quality educational experience for all qualified students with disabilities. All services of the Student Accessibility Resource Center are provided at no charge.

Support services and assistance with accommodations are also provided to employees of Armstrong who qualify for services under ADA and/or Section 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, in coordination with the Department of Human Resources.
