Armstrong State University will host the Third Annual Alumni Awards Gala on Friday, October 21, 2016, during Celebrate Armstrong Weekend.  The cocktail reception begins at 6 p.m. with dinner and ceremony at 7 p.m. Single tickets are $75 and a table of eight is available at a group rate of $500. Proceeds will go to benefit scholarship funds to build the next generation of Armstrong Alumni.

During the event, the Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented to Rep. Ron Stephens, the Outstanding Alumni Award will be presented to Faye Kirschner and the Notable Alumni Award will be given to 14 alumni.

Read More Alumni Are Disappointed, But Still Support Armstrong

Emotions ran high when Armstrong alumni gathered in Brunswick on March 14 to hear the latest news about the consolidation between Armstrong State University and Georgia Southern University. After a lengthy question-and-answer period, Alumni Board Member John Sewell ’60 stood up. “I’m just like you, I don’t understand why the state is doing this. I’m upset and I’m disappointed,” Sewell told the assembled group, “but I have come to realize that this isn’t about me; it’s about the students.”

(May 25, 2016) – Savannah residents Michelle and Barry Vine presented a gift of $79,000 to Armstrong State University in support of the university’s state-of-the-art tennis complex, currently under construction on campus. By fall, the tennis complex will be home to Armstrong’s women’s tennis team, NCAA Division II National Champions who clinched their tenth national title over the weekend, and the three-time National Champion men’s tennis team.
