Bachelor of Science (B.S.Ed.) in Health and Physical Education

The program in Health and Physical Education provides you with a degree leading to teacher certification P-12 in the area of health and physical education. Throughout matriculation you gain experience working with local teachers and students to enhance your knowledge and skills required to evaluate, plan, and provide health and physical programs to diverse age and ability levels for long-term healthy living.

Bachelor of Science in Health and PE Recreation and Coaching

There are opportunities for those who wish to major in Recreation and Coaching. This degree is for those students who wish to major in Recreation and Coaching but do not wish to become teachers in a public and private school setting. This degree has a higher concentration of courses in the areas of recreational activities and coaching. All classes are offered by experienced faculty both in the teacher certification field and in the general physical education curriculum.

B.S.Ed. in Secondary Education

Our program is designed to allow our candidates to develop as professional educators with the knowledge and skills to effectively meet the diverse needs of adolescent learners. Our program engages candidates through dynamic field experiences and clinical practices, contemporary technology practices, a focus on student diversity, and authentic preparation to meet the challenges of contemporary middle and secondary classroom settings.

Master of Education (M. Ed.) in Adult Education

The Master of Education in Adult Education degree helps you in disseminating your knowledge and area of expertise to adults and to become an educational leader in your current field and community, while enhancing existing skills and acquiring new knowledge.

M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction

This program is designed to increase the depth and breadth of classroom teachers’ knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. The educational professionals who complete this program will be prepared to have a positive impact on every student’s learning and will have the knowledge and skills to advocate for and contribute to improvement in education.

(M.A.T.) in Secondary Education (Initial Certification)

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Secondary Education program is designed for individuals seeking a master’s degree and Georgia teaching certification as a secondary school teacher (grades 6 through 12) in English, history, mathematics or science at the T-5 level.

Certificate in Adult Education

The Certificate in Adult Education leads to a State of Georgia Board of Regents' certificate in Adult Education. Adult education is the teaching or training of adults. This program is designed to assist individuals entering a wide variety of careers as trainers or educators.

Post-Baccalaureate, Non-Degree Teacher Certification

Coursework consists of professional education classes, specialized courses regarding school environments, specialized content courses and an internship. A full-time, semester-long, field-based graduate internship is under the tutelage of a university supervisor.

Teacher Leader Endorsement

The Teacher Leader Endorsement program is designed to effectively foster a teachers’ ability to facilitate and implement professional learning experiences, advocate for practices that increase student achievement, model research-based practices through mentoring and coaching, and analyze data to inform instructional practices.

(April 4, 2016) – At a special Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools gala, 28 of Armstrong's College of Education alumni were honored as school-level Teachers of the Year. Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education President Jolene Byrne told attendees that this honor is given in recognition and appreciation of the teachers' service to students and families.
