First Prize Winner of the 2001 Cleveland International Piano Competition and a finalist at the Twelfth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005, Italian pianist Roberto Plano has performed all over the world. He and his wife, Paola Del Negro, kickoff the series with a varied program of piano works. From Bedřich Smetana’s arrangement of The Moldau to Schumann’s works for four hands, this concert is not one to miss.

The duo, Orduz García, comprised of Ana María Orduz (Piano) and Jose Garcia Taborda (Clarinet) was founded in 2012 with the aim of investigating, rescuing and disseminating Latin American music, especially from Colombian composers. The duo will perform a selection of Latin-American music with exotic rhythms that include the Pasillo, Bambuco, Danzón and Cueca among others, by composers such as Guastavino, Arturo Marquez and Pedro Morales Piano.

Husband and wife team Edward & Stephanie have been widely acclaimed for their impeccable musicianship and their unique onstage chemistry. They have performed together at Steinway Hall in New York and at venues across the United States, Asia, and Australia. In addition to the best Classical repertoire for two pianists, Edward & Stephanie will play transcriptions and arrangements of the greatest orchestral hits and Broadway tunes.

This collaborative concert with the Savannah VOICE Festival delves deep into the relationships between music and humanity. From singer and pianist to audience and artist, and interpersonal relationships like parent and child to husband and wife, this varied performance explores why people “come together.” The evening will be an elegant recital of varied musical genres performed by up-and-coming artists as well as Armstrong’s very own, Dr. Benjamin Warsaw, and directed by Savannah VOICE Festival's own Maria Zouves. As these two organizations "come together," join us for a magical night of love, laughter, heartache, and hope.
About Piano in the Arts
Piano in the Arts, an exciting concert series now in its third season at Armstrong State University, is dedicated to showcasing the versatility of the piano through producing a series of unique concerts that incorporate many genres of music. Ranging from classical and jazz to the American Songbook, Piano in the Arts is devoted to providing world-class concert performances as well as learning opportunities for Armstrong students outside of the traditional classroom. In addition to performing concerts, many of the pianists and guest artists will also instruct a masterclass, which is free and open to the public.
