You will gain valuable field placement and internship experience in cooperating local schools. These experiences are integrated throughout major courses. Also, an active Student Georgia Association of Educators (SGAE) chapter offers excellent opportunities for involvement in a professional education organization.
In the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education - Child and Family Studies program, you will gain valuable field placement and internship experience in local schools. You will complete 60 hours in the major (including a semester-long Pre-Community Internship I and a semester-long Community Internship II).

The Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education is designed for individuals seeking Georgia teacher certification as an elementary school teacher (P-5). The program is suitable for individuals with an undergraduate major in any discipline.
The Master of Education degree is designed for individuals who hold or are eligible for a clear, renewable teaching certificate in an approved field (such as Early Childhood Education) and wish to pursue advanced study in that field. The Master of Education in Early Childhood Education is designed to prepare a master teacher who can address the academic, social and emotional development of students in pre-school through grade five.
The Master of Education in Reading Specialist Education (MED-RSE) program provides an in-depth study of the teaching of reading and writing to students in all grades. It is geared to the new Common Core Georgia Performance Standards that emphasize literacy skills across content areas. Studies show that teaching reading improves the learning of writing and teaching writing improves the learning of reading.
Graduates of this program are prepared to teach exceptional students whose learning needs require an individualized education plan (IEP). Graduates will instruct these students in the general education curriculum using specialized strategies that prepare them to participate in the statewide assessment process required of all P-12 public school students in Georgia.
The Master of Education in Special Education degree provides qualified special education professionals with advanced research-based special education skills for delivering successful inclusionary programming and transitional preparation outcomes for their students with moderate to severe disabilities.
The Special Education Transition Specialist Endorsement program is designed for individuals already holding or eligible for a clear, renewable T-4 or higher certificate in special education. This is the only state-approved Special Education Transition Specialist Endorsement program offered by a university in Georgia.
