Bachelor of Arts in Economics: General Track

The General Economics Track provides a thorough understanding of the economy and prepares students for immediate employment in analytically demanding professions, as well as graduate study in academic and professional programs.

Program of Study

A. General Requirements

Core Areas A, B, C, D, and E - 42 hours

Area F - 18 hours

Six credit hours from one of the following areas:



Information Technology

Physical Education - 3 hours

First-Year Seminar 1 hour

B. Major Field Courses - 33 hours

Twenty-one credit hours drawn from at least three of the following categories:


Public Policy and Economic History
Internships and Specialized Courses

C. Related Field Courses - 9 hours

Six credit hours of upper-division courses from the following fields: anthropology, communication, economics, English (3270, 5710, 5740, 5750 only), geography, information technology, management, marketing, mathematics, philosophy, political science, psychology, or sociology.
