Art & Art Education

Studio coursework in ceramics/pottery, drawing, painting, photography, graphic design and fiber arts, as combined with an art history sequence and underpinned by a thorough liberal arts platform, provide the ambitious student an excellent foundation on which a serious art career can be built.

Art in Savannah - Immersed in a temperate, historic coastal city known for its artistic and cultural offerings, visual art students at Armstrong enjoy abundant opportunities to study and create art amidst a bustling local gallery scene and within the scope of our competitive undergraduate program. Beyond local boundaries, students have regular opportunities to participate in study-abroad trips to Argentina.

Exhibit Opportunities Abound - Visual Arts students at Armstrong have many opportunities to display their artwork, including our annual competitive student juried exhibition, senior graduation exhibitions, campus festivals, and various student art organization events, including a student graphic design organization: Design Matters.

Admission

College-level study of art requires considerable background about art. Although a portfolio is not currently required for admission into the art program, it may be required in order to demonstrate competency in areas in which classes have been completed from another institution.
