Art & Art Ed: About Our Art Program

The Department of Art, Music & Theatre is a thriving fine and performing arts department nestled in the Southside of Savannah, Ga., just minutes away from the breezy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean and the quaint charm of the historic district of downtown Savannah. Armstrong's fine arts students enjoy a largely sunny and temperate climate in which to find artistic inspiration. The entire Armstrong faculty is dedicated to the success of all our students.

The art and art education curriculum at Armstrong provides a solid foundation in the fundamentals of art and current pedagogical practice. We strive to prepare tomorrow's art and art education leaders by helping them identify and develop their strengths as artists and educators. As a faculty of working artists, studio professors introduce real-life experience into the classroom setting, combining theory and practice to form a comprehensive course of study to promote well-rounded graduates and young professional artists.

As a unit of the University System of Georgia and Armstrong State University, the art program of the Department of Art, Music & Theatre is committed to fostering an environment of academic and cultural leadership in art, art history and art education by:
