Watch the Armstrong History Video now!

Armstrong’s First Seventy-Five, a historical video written by Dr. Janet Stone, Armstrong Atlantic State University historian, aired on Savannah’s WTOC-TV (CBS) on September 17.

The 12-minute video, directed by Bruce Habersham and produced with the assistance of Caroline Hopkinson in Armstrong’s Lane Library, explores the personal perspectives of several Armstrong alumni over the decades and the impact that the university had on their lives. The video, celebrating Armstrong’s 75th anniversary, includes interviews with several Armstrong alumni who have risen to positions of leadership in the community, including Savannah Mayor Otis Johnson. It also pays tribute to the university's founders who followed their vision to establish a college to serve Savannahians in 1935, in the middle of the Great Depression.

Stone, Armstrong professor emerita of history, will host a lecture on Friday, September 24 on the Armstrong campus to discuss Armstrong’s history and her new book, “From the Mansion to the University: A History of Armstrong Atlantic State University 1935-2010.”
