Armstrong State University. Leaner. Smarter. And Now Even Stronger.

As of July 1, we will officially drop the word “Atlantic” from our name and become Armstrong State University.  We invite Armstrong students, alumni, faculty, staff and community leaders to use our new name with pride.

The best part of simplifying our name is that it takes us back to our roots. As many of you already know, we’ve always been Armstrong. The Armstrong name dates back to the university’s founding in 1935 and is near and dear to the hearts of university students and alumni across the country.

It's not unusual for colleges and universities to change their names as they evolve. We needed a more streamlined name that is easier to remember and reflects our rich history as well as who we are today.

With more than 7,100 students, we’re proud to be the college of choice for residents across Georgia and throughout the country. We also serve as a key workforce development resource in Georgia, contributing to all sectors of the economy, from education to healthcare.

Start Strong. Finish Strong. Armstrong.
