Radiologic Sciences Department

Welcome to the Radiologic Sciences web site. The Bacelor of Radiologic Sciences in housed in the new, intreprofessional Department of Diagnositc and Theraputic Sciences in the College of Health Professions. Radiologic Sciences is a wonderful and very diverse profession. All radiologic science disciplines are very patient-focused and use some of the most cutting edge technology. It truly is a high touch, high tech profession. At Armstrong Atlantic State University, we offer five tracks within the baccalaureate degree leading to certification in radiography, radiation therapy, sonography, nuclear medicine, or cardiovascular interventional sciences. The bridge program also offers non-degreed, practicing technologists, therapists, and sonographers the opportunity to earn a bachelors degree.

The profession offers many rewards including good salaries, extensive advancement opportunities, a diverse community of professionals, a interprofessional work environment, and, most importantly, the satisfaction of positively touching the lives of patients. The employment outlook for the profession is very good in the long term as large number of practing professional are nearing retirement and salaries are expected to rise faster than inflation. Students in our department are exposed to a highly qualified faculty that have published widely, are nationally and internationally known, and are frequently elected to professional offices. Additionally, the faculty pride themselves on being student-oriented and very concerned with student success.
