Physics Faculty Member Donna Mullenax Awarded $41,233 to Support Middle School Science Education
Donna Mullenax, physics, was awarded $41,233 to offer a workshop titled "Georgia Barrier Islands Workshop" from the National Science Foundation via the Georgia Teacher Quality program. The workshop, offered in July 2013, was designed to deepen the science and social studies knowledge of elementary and middle school teachers. Tearchers studied the rich history, habitats and geology of Cumberland Island, Jekyll Island, Blackbeard Island and Sapelo Island. Teachers visited the islands, met with scientists, historians and residents on each of the islands as well as conducting experiements.
