Dr. Richard Wallace (chemistry) presents paper at BCCE 2012

Dr. Richard Wallace (chemistry) presented his work with the Edison and Ford Winter Estates at the Biennial Conference on Chemical Education (BCCE) on August 1, 2012 in State College Pennsylvania.  The presentation, titled “Bringing a chemist’s perspective to the restoration of a historical laboratory” reported his work to assist the Estates with the restoration process of the laboratory.  The Edison Botanical Research Corporation was opened in 1927 in Fort Myers Florida to search for a source of rubber that could be produced commercially in the U.S.  Dr. Wallace has a 3 year collaborative relationship with the Edison and Ford Winter Estates and assists with the interpretive aspects of the rubber research work carried out on the site and give reference to the contributions of this work to science in a larger context.
