Chemistry faculty member Sabitra Brush awarded $31,244 to support middle school teachers
Sabitra Brush, chemistry, was awarded $31,244 to offer a workshop titled "Lights, Sound, Action" from the National Science Foundation via the Georgia Teacher Quality program. The workshop, offered in July 2013, was designed to deepen the content knowledge of the Common Core Georgia Perfomance Standards in the physics component of K-8 physical science. The actvities selected in Lights, Sound, Action emphasize investigations into motion, heat, pressure, density, electricity, magnetism, light and sound. The workshop will continue into the fall as the participants will be engaged in a learning community to provide support for implementation back at their home school.
