The chemistry program announces the hiring of four new faculty to support the undergraduate program at Armstrong. Dr. Brandon Quillian has a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Georgia and will teach primarily in the organic sequence. His research background involves organometallic chemistry and inorganic complex catalysis. Prior to joining AASU, Dr. Quillian was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Virginia. Dr Mitch Weiland has recently been working as a post-doctoral fellow in biochemistry at the University of South Carolina where he also recieved his Ph.D. Dr. Weiland's expertise is in recombinant DNA techniques, cell culture, protein expression and purification. Dr. Jordan Mathias is a biochemist with a Ph.D. from the University of Florida. Prior to joining AASU, Dr. Mathias was an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Marietta College in Ohio. Dr. John Stone, an inorganic chemist, has joined Armstrong from a post-doctoral position at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Stone has a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina in inorganic chemistry and his area of expertise is in nanomedicine and nanotoxicity.
