The Department of Chemistry and Physics hosted 6th-8th grade science students from St. Francis Cabrini Catholic School. Fourteen 6th grade physical science and eight 8th grade physics students visited Armstrong’s program on Monday October 17th. The students toured the chemistry laboratories, watched science demonstrations and then performed hands-on experiments during the afternoon. Drs. Cathy MacGowan, Clifford Padgett and Will Lynch worked with the students during their visit. The 6th grade students worked with convection currents to better understand physical processes in the Earth while the 8th grade students performed a linear air-track experiment which allowed them to determine that value of the acceleration due to gravity.
