Phung Hoang Nguyen is recognized as the 2011-2012 Outstanding Senior for Academic Achievement in Chemistry
Phung Hoang Nguyen has been recognized by the faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Physics as the outstanding senior for academic achievement graduating in the 2011-2012 academic year.  Phung graduated from Groves High School and after entering Savannah Tech and transferred to Armstrong.  She originally entered Armstrong as a Pre-Pharmacy major. In her second year at Armstrong she began undergraduate research with Dr. Clifford Padgett on a National Science Foundation funded project in the area of computational biochemistry.  She has presented her undergraduate research at the 241stand 243rdNational Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Anaheim and San Diego California respectively.  She also has a publication in the peer-reviewed journal Tetrahedron Assymetry on using biocatalysis to prepare pharmaceutical agents.  Phung has accepted a graduate fellowship North Carolina State University to work on her PhD in the area of biochemistry.
