Writing for Non-Profit
Sector English 5710
In Engl 5710, English instructor Christy Mroczek works with students to teach them how to write for the nonprofit sector. In 2011, the whole class got involved with Bethelhem Abera’s project. Abera, an Armstrong MPH student, spent a summer in Ethiopia conducting original research on general reproductive and family planning services. She then started her own nonprofit, a rape crisis center in Ethiopia. She is passionate about the topic and found an organizational partner that agreed to serve as an umbrella organization in Ethiopia. Abera presented her research in a campus-wide event on reproductive rights and women's health in Ethiopia, impressing her audience with her vision and commitment.
