Scholarships

You may receive scholarships/stipends in one of two ways:

• through financial aid
• through departmental awards.

For financial aid assistance, visit the Financial Aid Office. Deadlines are as early as March 1 for the following academic year.
For department awards (see below) - deadlines are as early as March 1 for the following academic year, please download the Music Scholarship Application Form and complete and return to:

Department scholarships or stipends available

The following are scholarships awarded by the faculty based on merit in the program. Students do not apply for these scholarships.

Persse Music Theory Scholarship - Highest GPA in the four-semester theory sequence - up to $3,600 award each year
Presser Undergraduate Music Scholar - Outstanding music student at end of junior year, musicianship, GPA, service to department - up to $4,800 award each year

The following are music scholarships available based on department criteria to fill the needs of the music program. Students must apply for these scholarships.


Band Scholarship - playing in the Armstrong Wind Ensemble, audition required - varies each year
Charles and Jo Elliot Jones Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship - completed freshman year, full-time status, declared art, music or theatre major - varies each year
George Welch Scholarship - playing in the Savannah Winds/Armstrong Wind Ensemble - varies each year - awarded by the Savannah Winds Board
I. Cantori Scholarship - singing in the choir - varies each year
James Lord Pierpont - undergraduate music education major, completion of course work for degree track, service to the music education community - varies each year

Piano Scholarship - piano major, audition required - varies each year
Savannah Winds Scholarship - playing in the Savannah Winds/Armstrong Wind Ensemble, audition required - varies each year
Sprague and Jane Exley Scholarship - percussion major, GPA 3.0 or greater - varies each year
Vocal/Choral Scholarship - vocal/choral major, audition required - varies each year
