2011

City of Savannah

The Center is studying the costs and benefits to the City of Savannah of motor coach based tourism.  This includes an assessment of explicit and opportunity costs of motor coach tourism and an economic impact estimate to measure benefits to the community.

Step Up Savannah

The Center is conducting an evaluation of a FINRA Investor Education Foundation grant to Step-Up Savannah. Educational and behavioral outcomes will be considered is assessing the efficacy of grant-funded activities on low income participants with respect to financial education, financial outcomes, and financial stability indicators.

The Creative Coast

This project is a collaborative effort with the Savannah College of Art & Design.  The Center will be providing an economic impact assessment of the creative sector of the Savannah area economy. SCAD will be developing report materials for distribution.
 

2010

Savannah/Chatham Community Indicators Database

The Savannah-Chatham Community Indicators project was established to monitor the current state of progress on priority areas of public policy interest in the City of Savannah and Chatham County. The indicators are data that measure activity and identify trends in four categories of primary interest: education and youth development, health and wellness, economic independence, and regionalism.


2009

Savannah Area Wages and Trends

This project focused on Knowledge-Based Businesses in a comparison with other economic sectors of the Savannah area economy. Short and longer term employment and wage trends were reviewed.




2008

Survey of Current and Former Garden Homes/Ashley Midtown Redevelopment Project

Current and former residents were surveyed to assess their attitudes and opinions about living in the area. Former residents were asked about factors contributing to their return, or non-return, to the development.
 

Savannah/Chatham Community Indicators Feasibility Study

This project was a feasibility study for the proposed Savannah-Chatham Community Indicators database. The project provides a blueprint for the construction of the database noting potential data sources and indicators for which a surveying methodology would be neede to obtain relevant data. Four categories of interest were reviewed: education and youth development, health and wellness, economic independence, and regionalism.

This study documents the economic impact of Tybee Island beach renourishment on the economy of the state of Georgia.
 

The Economic Impact of the HOPE VI Garden Homes Redevelopment Project in Savannah, GA: Business Activity

This study estimates the economic impact associated with the changing mix of businesses in the area around the redevelopment project.

This study estimates the economic impact of construction and development expenditures on the Savannah MSA economy.

The Economic Impact of Manufacturing in the Savannah Area, 2005.

This study documents the economic and fiscal impact of manufacturing on the regional economy of Chatham, Effingham, Bryan and Liberty counties in 2005.

Tobacco Use and Attitudes among Savannah's College Level Students, 2005.

Students at universities in the Savannah area were surveyed to assess their attitude toward and awareness of tobacco-related issues.

Savannah MSA Tobacco Attitude and Awareness Study, 2004

Residents of Bryan, Chatham, and Effingham county were surveyed regarding the attitudes toward and awareness of tobacco related issues.
 



2003

Coastal Georgia Greenway Market Study and Projected Economic Impact.

This study seeks to estimate the potential market size and economic impact of the multi-purpose Coastal Georgia Greenway.


Savannah Tour of Historic Houses of Worship Website.

This project was the development of a website to host information about a holiday tour of historic houses of worship in the City of Savannah and a compilation of images for the locations.



2002

Savannah MSA Tobacco Attitude and Awareness Study, 2002.

The purpose was to gather information specific to the Savannah metropolitan area on attitudes about and awareness of tobacco usage, the recognition and recall rate of the anti-smoking advertising campaign, the relationship between advertising awareness and attitudes toward tobacco use, and the interaction of smokers and non-smokers.

Operations Assessment for the Savannah Symphony Orchestra.

In this document, the financial operations of the Savannah Symphony Orchestra (SSO) are reviewed and compared to a peer group and target group of orchestras using FY 2000 data.

A preliminary look and the effect of "The Book"  - as it is known in Savannah - on tourism activity in Chatham County.

An Economic Impact Assessment of JCB on the Savannah Area Economy.

This impact has investigated the economic impacts associated with JCB Inc.’s construction and operation of a manufacturing facility and headquarters in the Savannah MSA.

The Savannah 30 Stock Index and Regional Employment: A Leading Indicator?

The relationship between Savannah MSA employment and the Savannah Morning News’ stock price index of regional companies, the Savannah 30, is studied.



1999

The Economic Impact of the Savannah International Airport, 1999.

The purpose of this study is to quantify this impact on regional economic activity by measuring the total economic impact on Bryan, Chatham, and Effingham Counties during 1998.

A Savannah Area Industrial Targeting and Recruiting Strategy: The Savannah International Airport as a Link to the Regional Economy

. Overall, this document is intended to serve as an informational tool for economic development agencies as they allocate their resources in the course of recruiting new firms and retaining the area’s manufacturing base.
