Steve Rhee Scholarship Fund
The merit scholarship will be used to provide support for students who are enrolled at Armstrong State University. The Rhee family made the donation as a token of their appreciation to the university for enabling them to achieve their professional goals. Dr. Rhee and his wife. Mrs. Sarah Rhee, and their two adult children, Dr. Eugene Rhee and Dr. Sonia Rhee, contributed to the donation on the occasion of Dr. Steve Rhee's retirement from the university after 29 years of teaching and professional service to the discipline.
Selection of Scholarship Recipients
Recipients shall be selected by the Scholarship Committee of Armstrong State University upon recommendation from the Department of Criminal Justice, Social and Political Science. To qualify for this scholarship, recipients must:
- be a full-time or part-time undergraduate enrolled at Armstrong State University, with a declared major in Political Science;
- have completed at least 70 semester hours of undergraduate course work and have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0;
- have demonstrated meritorious and exemplary leadership in promoting the understanding of the operations of the government of the United States; and possess a broad-based understanding of international affairs of the United States in the twenty-first century;
- have completed one year of course work in a foreign language with grade of B or better.
Amount and Implementation of the Scholarship
Total scholarship amount will be $500.00 per year, to be dispensed at the beginning of Fall Semester, each academic year, effective Fall Semester, 2006. Scholarships are renewable for not more than 2 years or until recipient is no longer qualified.
