Armstrong AMT Masquers Summer Theatre continues its “Summer of Simon” comedy series with The Prisoner of Second Avenue, a hysterically poignant portrayal of the downward spiral set in motion by failed Manhattan executive Mel Edison’s overwhelming economic and personal tribulations.

Subsidized by his concerned wife’s undying support, Mel attempts to deal with his newfound unemployment, abusive Summer heat, sound-polluting city noise, offensive neighbors, and Manhattan’s requisite experience of being robbed in broad daylight. Will Mrs. Edison’s ascent into the marketplace balance the ledger, or does Mel’s cabin fever drive him to a nervous breakdown?
