Our Department


The Armstrong State University Department of Art, Music & Theatre is a thriving fine and performing arts department nestled in the southside of scenic Savannah, Georgia. Minutes from the breezy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean and the quaint charm of the historic district of downtown Savannah, Armstrong fine arts students enjoy a largely sunny and temperate climate in which to find artistic inspiration. The entire Armstrong faculty is dedicated to the success of all of our students.

The art and art education curriculum at Armstrong provides a solid foundation in the fundamentals of art and current pedagogical practice. We strive to prepare tomorrow's art and art education leaders by helping them identify and develop their strengths as artists and educators. As a faculty of working artists, studio professors introduce real-life experience to the classroom setting, combining theory and practice to form a comprehensive course of study to promote well-rounded graduates...young professional artists.

The music and music education curriculum at Armstrong provides a solid foundation in the fundamentals of music and current pedagogical practice. We strive to prepare tomorrow's future musical leaders by helping them identify and develop their strengths as performers and educators.

The theatre curriculum at Armstrong provides a solid foundation in the fundamentals of theatre in areas of stage and camera, directing, tech/design, and management. We strive to prepare tomorrow's stage and film professionals by helping them identify and develop their strengths as performers on the stage, backstage, on camera, behind the camera, and as professionals in the community.
