About this event:
His solo recital features programmatic music by award winning composers Sebastian Currier, Sheila Silver, and Richard Danielpour.
Krebs' program opens with Currier's atmospheric Scarlatti Cadences and turbulent companion piece Brainstorm. Silver's Six Preludes after Baudelaire, her poetry-inspired characterization of a picturesque French mediterranean fishing village follows, and Danielpour's seven-movement rhythmic and oft introspective Preludes, Book 2 concludes the program.
A native of Iowa, Krebs holds degrees in piano performance from Northwestern University, the University of Illinois, and the University of Maryland. He also studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany as a Fulbright scholar. After teaching at Central Missouri State University, Prince George’s Community College, and Luther College, he has been at Hendrix College for the past twenty years.
An avid collaborative pianist, Krebs has performed in Canada, Germany, Slovenia, Scotland, and Thailand. He has been an active member of Music Teachers National Association at the local, state, and national levels, and in 2011 he was named an MTNA Foundation Fellow.
