CAMINO Padre is designed to help parents of first-generation students become better informed and more active participants in their child’s college preparation and planning. The goal is that they will be better able to support their children from the college search and application process on through graduation.
In collaboration with MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund), CAMINO Padre will offer a 12-week parent engagement curriculum that educates and assists parents to become the best advocates for their children in the school system and beyond. This transformative experience will make the possibility of a college education for their children far more concrete and enable parents to share with other parents in their high school communities the message that “Yes, our kids are college material.”
