A Comparison of Isolated Total Leg Strengthening vs Functional Training on Strength, Balance and Agility in Healthy individuals.

Authors: Halbert, G, Burkett, D, Lake, D. Davies, GJ

Both isolated total leg training and functional training are commonly used to increase strength, power, balance, stability, and agility in a variety of different settings. However, the effectiveness of one method compared to the other has not been studied. The purpose of our study is to determine the effects of a total leg-strengthening program that focuses on isolated uni-joint exercises compared to a functional training program focusing on dynamic multi-joint exercises on a variety of outcome measures in healthy individuals.
