Arthur M. Gignilliat Sr. Scholarship Fund

Since Day One

Arthur Mathewson Gignilliat Sr. was here when it all began. In 1935, Gignilliat was a part of the school’s founding faculty. Committed to the advancement of what was then a junior college, Gignilliat would go on to serve in a variety of roles all over the Armstrong’s campus. His tenure would see him serve as a chairman, dean, and Vice President. After 23 years, Gignilliat moved on to offer his many talents to another institution. In 1997, the family of Arthur Gignilliat Sr. returned to Armstrong to begin an endowment in memory of his service to the university, continuing a legacy of contribution from Arthur Mathewson Gignilliat Sr. that has lived since Armstrong’s very first day of existence.
