Why We Give

photo of donna brooks“I have given to Armstrong’s faculty campaign for a number of years; however, I began giving more generously to the university upon the retirement of Mr. Alfred Owens, Armstrong’s first director of Minority Affairs, in an effort to endow a scholarship in his name. Since its endowment I have been contributing to a fund to endow a scholarship for students in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I see my giving to Armstrong as a means to “pay back” the financial aid and scholarship money that enabled me to pursue my academic studies from undergraduate to doctoral, virtually debt-free; it’s my thank you.”
– Donna Brooks, Interim Dean, College of Health Professions

I have spent more than three decades teaching here, and have seen the positive impact that Armstrong has had on the community, on my students, and on my family. I give to help another generation of students benefit from that tradition.”
– Randall Reese, DMA, Professor of Music, Department of Art, Music & Theater

The second reason I give is the funds are used to help students and programs that have the most need and, therefore, have the most impact.”
– Elwin Tilson, Department Head, Radiological Sciences
