Student Worker Vacancy -  "GACE Peer Tutor"

Job Description Summary 

Provide support, tutoring, and conduct training related to the Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators (GACE) examination.

Essential Duties

  • Offer a regular schedule of 19.0 lab/office hours for individualized support and training to target all learning styles which include computerized and face-to-face training.
  • Review test scores, content materials test, and analyze candidate (test taker) feedback.
  • Conduct regular training sessions each semester on the use of tutorials in all GACE content areas to increase candidate pass rate (minimum 8 sessions per semester)
  • Develop sustainable training modules (e.g. identifying resources, how to access, and establish GACE examination schedule, and the requirement of “MyPSC” account)to guide candidates through preparation in content area tutorials
  • Release through available communication avenues approved language regarding substantive changes in GACE examinations
  • Record video tutorials regarding all aspects of available resources– sustainable feature of project
  • Evaluate and revise training
  • Perform duties as assigned to ensure student success

Minimum Qualifications and Training

  • Must be enrolled full-time (12 semester hours-undergraduate or 6 semester hours-graduate) at Armstrong Atlantic State University at time of employment and each semester after. (Summer Semester requirement is 6 semester hours to be employed on IWSP).
  • 3.0 grade point average.
  • Previous tutoring or training experience.
  • Computer experience and intermediate-advanced proficiency with screencasting, video/audio recording/editing, and other digital tools.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

  • College of Education major.
  • Knowledge of GACE examination.
  • Knowledge of pre-service teacher candidate preparation.
