Georgia Teaching Certificate Rule Change
It really has never been a good idea to postpone applying for certification since requirements can change from year to year, but as of January 15, 2013, the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) has made it a rule 505-3-.01(3)(g)5 that you must apply for your certificate within five years of completing your program.
Essentially this means if you do not get your certificate when you have completed the program and you wait five years or more, you will be subject to a re-evaluation by the department of your certificate field. By then, it could be more classes, more tests and a lot more headaches for you!
