Welcome to the Department of Childhood & Exceptional Student Education at Armstrong Atlantic State University. As a comprehensive urban university, Armstrong is committed to academic excellence in the teaching and learning of all students. The highest priority of Armstrong is to foster abilities and values essential to the development of the degree candidates into knowledgeable, thoughtful, responsible, and creative members of society. Armstrong's College of Education has as its vision the development of prepared, reflective P-12 educators through a curriculum that is designed to instill the highest qualities of scholarship and professionalism, the appropriate uses of technology, and genuine respect for human diversity.
The Department of Childhood & Exceptional Student Education has as its philosophical foundation the mission of Armstrong and the vision of the College of Education and is accredited by both NCATE and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. The program is designed to prepare P-5 education teachers who demonstrate the highest qualities of character and ethical behavior as well as the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to enter the educational and service communities as a learner, collaborator, and mentor in the learning process.
