Accomplishments

Two new awards for staff recognition were created. The Spirit of Armstrong Award was presented to Chris McCarthy at the annual Leadership Award Program. The new Staff Service to the Community Award will be granted for the first time in 2008. A donation of $500 will go to a non-profit organization of the winner’s choice.
A service project for Union Mission helped this worthy organization care for people in need. AASU collected and donated 50 bags of clothes, toiletries, bedding and shoes to Union Mission.
The AASU Staff Advisory Council became an official member of the University System of Georgia Staff Council. Scott Gilreath represented the AASU staff at the University System of GA Staff Conference at Albany State.
The Sick Leave Pool that was implemented last year grew to 146 members.
The Buy the Book Booth at the 2006 Celebrate AASU festival raised $521 for the Staff Textbook Scholarship Fund.
