ATLANTA - The Board of Regents voted today to pick Linda M. Bleicken as the new president of Armstrong Atlantic State University.
Bleicken has been the provost and vice president of academic affairs at Georgia Southern University since 2005. She has been on the faculty as a management professor at the 18,000-student school since 1990.
The presidency becomes vacant with the June 30 retirement of Thomas Z. Jones, who has served in the post for nine years.
Last month, a search committee presented the Regents the names of two finalists, Bleicken and William J. Lowe, provost and vice president of academic affairs at 7,100-student Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minn.
