In mid-August, thousands of new students at Armstrong Atlantic State University began their first classes ever at the southside Savannah state university, as did at least one professor. One night a week, Dr. Linda Bleicken is teaching a graduate level course in the Masters of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies Program.

Linda M. Bleicken, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs at Georgia Southern University, has been named president of Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU). The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia made the announcement Tuesday.

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has appointed Dr. Linda M. Bleicken as the new president of Armstrong Atlantic State University. Bleicken, currently the provost and vice president for academic affairs at Georgia Southern University, will succeed President Thomas Z. Jones, who will step down on June 30 after nine years of service to AASU.

Regent Wanda Rodwell, chair of the Special Regents’ Committee for the presidential search at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) in Savannah, and University System of Georgia Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer Susan Herbst have announced the names of the two finalists for the AASU presidency.

The Presidential Search Committee is pleased to announce the selection of candidates and scheduled dates for on-campus interviews.  The campus is invited to an open forum with each candidate from 1:30 - 2:30 in Solms 108 during their visits with us.
