Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.)

The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. provides women with the knowledge to make educated decisions about resistance and instills confidence in all those that participate in the program. The class is offered only to female students, faculty and staff free of charge. University Police currently has four nationally-certified instructors and is in the process of acquiring more instructors. The instructors at Armstrong have partnered with the instructors at Georgia Southern University, the Coastal College of Georgia, and the Department of Revenue to provide quality instruction at these institutions.

Instructors are Lieutenant Joe Peny, Officer Meagan Zike, Officer Crystal Simmons and Officer Tiffany Land from Armstrong Police. Guest instructors provide an additional resource for instruction and safety.
