Student Insurance

Students at Armstrong have the opportunity to sign up for health insurance during either the fall semester or the spring and summer semesters. They can do so by visiting www.studentinsurance.com and selecting "Armstrong Atlantic State University" in the drop down menu.

All Institutions of the University System of Georgia are required to participate in the Student Health Insurance program.
There are three types of insurance that Armstrong students can register for:

• Voluntary Insurance
• Mandatory Insurance
• Graduate Insurance

For rates and to sign up for health insurance, please visit http://www.studentinsurance.com before the Enrollment Deadline.  The period of enrollment is usually 3-4 weeks after the first day of classes.

Voluntary Insurance
For the Voluntary Plan, all students enrolled for six (6) or more credits per term or participating in Cooperative Education Programs are eligible to enroll in the insurance plan.  Students covered under a Mandatory Plan have a separate brochure.

Mandatory Insurance
Students in the categories listed below are required to have insurance and would sign up for Undergraduate or Graduate Insurance on the Pearce and Pearce website.  Students who are not covered by a policy on the pre-approved waiver list must purchase the USG SHIP policy.  The pre-approved list is located at www.studentinsurance.com on your institution’s page.  Individual or Association Policies will not be considered for a waiver. The following students are required to have health insurance:

1. All undergraduate and ESL international students holding F or J visas.
2. All undergraduate students enrolled in programs that require proof of health insurance.

Graduate Insurance
Students in the categories listed below are required to have insurance and would sign up for Graduate Insurance on the Pearce and Pearce website.  Students who are not covered by a policy on the pre-approved waiver list must purchase the USG SHIP policy.  The pre-approved list is located at www.studentinsurance.com on your institution’s page.  Individual or Association Policies will not be considered for a waiver.

1. All graduate students receiving a Full Tuition Waiver as part of their graduate assistant award.
2. All graduate international students holding F or J visas.
3. All graduate students enrolled in programs that require proof of health insurance.
4. All graduate students receiving fellowships that fully fund their tuition.
