Study Abroad, a global learning opportunity
Armstrong is already gearing up for the 2012 summer study abroad programs. Armstrong’s enrollment in these programs increased by 50% this past year! Students and faculty are quickly becoming aware that it is important that today’s students prepare to become citizens of the world if they want to have the best employment opportunities.
LocationsThis summer Armstrong will have 22 study abroad locations in Africa, North and South America, Europe and Asia that involve 22 of our faculty members. In addition, students can spend a whole semester abroad choosing from an array of 80 universities worldwide, many of whom teach courses in English. This year, Armstrong has students studying one or two semesters in countries like Italy, India, The Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Thailand, and South Korea.
CostThe cost of a semester abroad program is very similar to the cost of Armstrong’s tuition/fees, on-campus housing and meal plan. Note that the international airfare is extra.
Our summer programs range from ten days to six weeks with the academic disciplines ranging from intensive Spanish language training to Chinese traditional medicine to economics to biology. In addition, many programs also offer courses for the core requirements. In other words, there is at least one program that fits almost every student’s needs.
Students can also use financial aid to help cover the cost of the program. Students can use the Hope Scholarship, Pell Grants and student loans from financial aid to help pay the total cost of studying abroad.
ApplyStudents can go online (Study Abroad_Welcome) to download information about each program and the application form. The application form and application fee (which is applied to the total cost of the program) is submitted directly to the Office of International Education located in Gamble Hall 204A. The application form contains full information about payment date and other information about the program.
We also encourage parents to review the study abroad website to learn more about these opportunities for Armstrong students.
