Two-time Grammy Award winner Earnest Murphy originally made his debut as a singer at Armstrong in 1951, playing the role of Nanki-Poo in the university’s production of The Mikado. This talented tenor went on to perform live at top venues, from the White House to Carnegie Hall, earning accolades for his exceptional work with New York Pro Musica and the Abbey Singers. Over the past 50 years, he has performed live with many of the world's greatest orchestras. In addition, Earnest has toured North America, South America and Europe as a member of New York Pro Musica. He currently resides in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he serves on the Board of Advisors for the School of Music at Stetson University and the Daytona Beach Symphony Society. He continues to be a sought-after singer, performing in live concerts and recitals throughout the year.
