Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

A former Mrs. Georgia and Mrs. America runner-up, Grace Martin, wife and mother of three, enrolled as a freshman at Armstrong in 1972 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in four years. She went on to receive both the master’s and doctorate degrees in psychology from The Florida State University in 1980.

Returning to Armstrong, Dr. Martin served the university for 22 years in faculty and administrative positions. She is credited with starting the economics degree program and finding ways to best serve reentry students. She served as professor, head of the Department of Psychology, head of the Division of Social and Behavioral sciences, and Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences before her retirement in 2002.

Dr. Martin’s presentations and publications attracted regional, national, and international attention. Her repeated Who’s Who listings include Who’s Who Among American Women, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World.
