Types of Internal Audit Activities

The Office of Internal Audit focuses on the following types of activities:

  • Audits – Comprehensive examinations of an operating unit to evaluate its performance, as measured by administrative objectives.   
  • Consulting Services – Activities intended to provide information, encouragement, and review on issues concerning policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Investigations – Activities designed to identify responsibility for, and measure the impact of, alleged wrongdoing that has been reported to administration.  For further information regarding investigations, please see the Fiscal Misconduct Reporting Policy .
