Simply follow these five steps and get set to live in one of our vibrant and highly diverse student communities. Housing and Residence Life strives to provide something for everyone!
Step 1: Review your choices. All our residential communities are just minutes from classes, the Student Union, dining, the Recreation Center, the Learning Commons, and intramural playing fields.
Step 2: Read the Housing's Resident Student Handbook.
Step 3: Log into your Port of Armstrong account and go to the Register tab to access the online Housing application. At the bottom of that screen there is a box for Housing and Residence Life Application. You can complete the Housing application, make your community and meal plan selections, and sign the Housing agreement all from that site!
Minors, please sign, have guarantor sign, and return the following application pages: Meningococcal Disease Notification and Housing Contract Agreement . Please mail signed pages, along with your non-refundable application fee and student identification number, to the address listed before in Step 4.
Step 4: Mail a check or money order (including your student identification number) for your $250.00 non-refundable application fee to:
Armstrong Atlantic State University
Office of Business and Finance
Attention: Housing and Residence Life
11935 Abercorn Street
Savannah, GA 31419
or pay your $250.00 non-refundable application fee online through your Housing application
Please remember that your application will not be processed until the non-refundable application fee has been received, so the sooner you send it the better! Also, please be sure to write your student identification number on the check or money order so we can make sure to apply the fee to the right student's application!
Step 5: Check on the status of your application online by logging into Port of Armstrong. Once your application fee has been received, your status will be updated in the portal, so make sure to check back to make sure everything has been received! Fall room assignments will be solidified by the second week in May. Room assignments will be posted on your housing applications when created. Please continue to monitor your student email for room/ roommate details.
Returning students who wish to return to housing for another year should apply online via Port of Armstrong as indicated above under the 5-step new student process. Returning students ARE NOT required to pay a housing application fee. Returning students must, however, self-select their own space during their designated time period to ensure they get the space they want.
Option 1: Same room selection
Students wishing to return to their same room for next academic year should self-select their room during the time period of March 24-26, 2014. You can do this by proceeding to the room selection tab inside your online housing application.
Option 2: Different room selection
Students wishing to select a different room or community for next academic year should select their new room between the dates of March 27 - April 10, 2014.
Option 3: Return to Windward Commons
Students wishing to return to Windward Commons for a second year will be permitted to do so on a limited basis. Please email Housing@armstrong.edu prior to April 10 indicating your interest if you wish to pursue this option.
Any student who has applied for housing for Academic Year 14-15 but has not self-selected a space by April 10, 2014 will be assigned to a space based on indicated preferences on a space available basis.
Special Accommodation Needs
The Offices of Disability Services and Housing and Residence Life work closely together to evaluate requests for housing accommodations for students with disabilities. Students requesting special accommodation or modification for housing must complete and submit the Housing Accommodation Form in order to receive consideration. In addition, the student requesting accommodation must also have a current fully completed housing application on file before the University will evaluate a request for housing accommodation. A request for housing accommodation does not guarantee a housing assignment.
The student should complete Section I and the medical provider should complete Section II. This request must be completed in its entirety before a request will be considered. All requests for accommodation must be made by 60 days before arrival.
Documentation must substantiate a diagnosed impairment that is a current substantial limitation to a major life activity as it relates to housing needs. To ensure the provision of reasonable and appropriate on-campus accommodations for students, the University requires current and comprehensive documentation of the disorder from a current treatment/ assessment professional qualified to make the diagnosis. (Please note, a diagnosis in and of itself does not automatically qualify for requested accommodation.)
This request form must be submitted each year in order to review and renew, as appropriate, accommodations provided through the Offices of Disability Services and Housing and Residence Life.
