National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART)

This federal grant program has been discontinued beginning Fall 2011.

These federal grants are for students who are enrolled full-time in their third and fourth academic years; major in mathematics, science, technology, engineering or critical foreign languages; are U.S. citizens; are Pell Grant eligible; and have at least a 3.0 grade point average. No rigorous high school program is required for SMART. Students must be enrolled each semester in specific coursework within the eligible major leading to completion of the program. The annual award amount is $4,000 for each of the student's third and fourth academic years of undergraduate study.
