Financial Aid Steps for Current Students
 

Steps to receive financial aid:

  1. Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) renewal application at www.fafsa.ed.gov using your personal identification number (PIN)  available at www.pin.ed.gov. The FAFSA renewal application becomes available January 1 each year. The Armstrong Priority Deadline is March 15.

    In order to receive Federal Financial Aid, such as Pell Grant and Direct Loans, you must renew your FAFSA each academic year.  To assist you with renewal and completion of your FAFSA, Armstrong offers College Goal. College Goal is an event in which you may receive free professional assistance to complete your FAFSA. When the date and time of College Goal is announced, you will receive e-mail notification through your student e-mail account.   2. Apply for Scholarships! For more information regarding Scholarships and how to apply, please review our Scholarships information page.
     
  3. Check your student e-mail regularly for important information from the Office of Financial Aid.
     
  4. Check SHIP regularly via the Port of Armstrong. From SHIP you may also accept, decline, or make adjustments to your Direct loan(s).

    Prior to any disbursement of federal Direct Loans a student most complete Entrance Couseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN). You may confirm that you have completed these requirements at www.studentloans.gov .
     
  5. If you are HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship recipent then your HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship eligibility is automatically evaluated each 30, 60, and 90 attempted credit hours, in addition to every spring semester.

    If you are not a HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship recipient and you have attempted 30, 60, or 90 credit hours, you may request to be evaluated for HOPE Scholarship eligibility. Please complete the HOPE/Zell Miller Evaluation Request Form and return it to the Office of Financial Aid.  For more information regarding the HOPE & Zell Miller Scholarships, please visit our HOPE & Zell Miller Scholarship information page.
     
  6. Submit any documents requested by the Office of Financial Aid by the priority deadlines to prevent a delay in receiving your financial aid.
     
  7. Check your balance in Port of Armstrong to ensure you have enough financial aid to cover your bill and/or to make payments or sign up for a payment plan by the fee payment deadline.
     
  8.  Attend class! Your financial aid eligibility is affected by your class attendance. Make sure you are verified in attendance.
